The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 132 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested and two were held for a bail hearing.
Break and Enter
On March 18, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended a residence on Sheldon Ave, Chatham, in response to a break and enter complaint. It was learned that sometime overnight, unknown suspect gained entry to the residence and removed a black Coach purse, Kindle E-Reader, silver iPod Touch, various gift cards, and a quantity of cash. Stolen items total approximately $1200.

Theft from Shed
On March 18, 2015, the Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Stanley Ave, Chatham, in regards to a shed being entered. It was learned that sometime in the afternoon, an unknown suspect cut off a pad lock securing the shed, and removed a chainsaw and men’s bicycle. The two items are valued at approximately $500.

Domestic Assault
In the evening of March 18, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Blythewood Cr, Chatham, in response to a domestic dispute. Through investigation, it was learned that the female victim was assaulted earlier in the evening and also had her phone destroyed two weeks prior.
The suspect was located by Police shortly after, walking from the victim’s address, on Park Ave W, Chatham. He was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault, domestic assault with weapon, domestic mischief, and one count of uttering threats to a family member of the victim. The 19 year old Chatham man is currently being held in custody, pending bail hearing.
Thefts from vehicles
With warmer weather, there is an increase of unattended vehicles being entered. Citizens are reminded to lock their vehicle doors, or leave anything of any value visible inside. Keeping a clean and empty vehicle deters thieves from entering your vehicle.
