The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 100 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK15011321
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham.
Last night, shortly after 11:00 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle stopped on King Street. The driver made a wide turn onto Third Street very slowly and continued over the bridge weaving back and forth. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man pulled into a private lot. He parked his vehicle on an angle in a marked parking spot.
Through investigation, the officer believed the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of drugs and he was taken into custody. The man was found to be in possession of marijuana and transported to police headquarters for evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert.
Spencer Cartier, 21 years, of Campus Parkway in Chatham has been charged with impaired driving and drug possession. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 7, 2015.
Man Charged with Theft CK15011307
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a shoplifting complaint in Chatham.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m. last night, the man attended the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street. While in the electronics department, the man placed several items in his backpack. The man exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at $142. A store employee confronted the man outside and advised he was under arrest. The man turned over some stolen items and fled the scene in a car.
An officer on general patrol observed the man and initiated a traffic stop on St. Clair Street near Oxley Drive. The man was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest was found to be in possession of more stolen items valued at approximately $60.
Mark Dillon, 34 years, of Brock Street in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, escape lawful custody and driving while under suspension. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 6, 2015.

Last night, officers conducted RIDE spot checks in Chatham, Dresden, Wallaceburg and Blenheim.
A total of 105 motorists were stopped. No infractions were found.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15011244
Around 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Jackson Street near St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Neither driver was injured. Total damage was estimated at $5000.
An 18-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
