The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 106 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK15008930

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving following a collision last night.

Around 9:40 p.m. emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Bloomfield Road at 6th Line. The man was travelling northbound on Bloomfield Road in his truck when he turned left onto 6th Line and drove directly into the path of an oncoming car. The driver of the car, a 23-year-old London woman, was transported via ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 50-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and impaired driving causing bodily harm. He will be released when sober with conditions pending a future court date of April 17, 2015.

Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15008846

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a theft investigation in Chatham.

Yesterday morning around 8:15 a.m. the man entered an apartment on Baldoon Road and was observed leaving with a large brown suitcase. The landlord confronted the suspicious man who provided a false name. The landlord obtained the man’s licence plate and called police.

Through investigation, officers located the man around noon on Wedgewood Avenue and he was taken into custody. The 32-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle CK15008848

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a stolen truck in Howard Township.

Sometime between March 31, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. and April 1, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a 2008 grey GMC Sierra pick-up truck from a property on Hill Road. The truck was last seen with Ontario licence plates 393 7FE.

Traffic Enforcement CK15008847

Yesterday morning, officers conducted radar enforcement in Tilbury.

Eight motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
