The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 144 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested, two of which were held for a bail hearing.
Domestic
On the 22nd of May, 2015 Chatham-Kent Police attended a Tilbury address, regarding a dangerous driving complaint. Upon arrival officers learned that a 39 year old Tilbury man drove his vehicle into the complainants garage door several times, thus pushing the vehicle in the garage, into the interior wall. Upon leaving the accused left the front grill of his vehicle at the scene. Police checked the area and located the vehicle in question. A short pursuit ensued and the accused was placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed that the subject was previously bound by a recognizance not to attend the home. The male was charged with Dangerous Driving, Mischief Over $5000, Breach of Recognizance and Flight from Police. Damage to the home and two vehicles was estimated at approximately $30,000. The accused was held in custody pending a future court date.
Outstanding Warrant
On the 22nd of May, 2015 the Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Oak St., Tilbury, in response to a male party sleeping in the complainant’s vehicle. The male party in question was queried on CPIC and information was received that the Chatham-Kent Police held a warrant for the accused arrest for a Possession of Stolen Property offence. Anthony PETERKIN 26 years of NFA was placed under arrest and held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
Impaired by Drugs
On the 22nd of May, 2015 Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on McNaughton Avenue West, Chatham regarding a possible impaired driving complaint. Upon arrival officers located a male party parked in the driveway. Information was received from witnesses that the subject had caused several oncoming vehicles to swerve out of the way to avoid collisions. In fact he almost struck a parked car. The subject’s sobriety was checked and the investigating officer detected no signs of alcohol even though the accused possessed extreme signs and symptoms of impairment. Subsequently, the accused was arrested for Impaired Driving by Drugs and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was turned over to a Drug Recognition Expert for an evaluation. It was determined that, Michael KING 53 years old of Chatham was impaired by drugs. He was released with a future court date.
