The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 131 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested and two were held for a bail hearing.
Personating Peace Officer
On January 14, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police received complaint from a Wallaceburg couple, after they purchased a set of speakers from a Kijiji ad. When they met with the male to make an exchange, he presented himself as a Police Officer, wearing a law enforcement style jacket with shoulder flashes.
On January 15, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police received a complaint of a man attending a local business the week prior and attempting to sell speakers, while wearing a law enforcement style jacket. It was believed to be the same man from both incidents.
Through investigation, the man’s identity was obtained and Police conducted a search warrant on his residence. A law enforcement jacket was seized, and the 46 year old Chatham resident was charged with Personating Peace Officer and released with a future court date.
Search Warrant
In the evening of January 30, 2015, the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section conducted a search warrant of a Duke St residence in Wallaceburg, in conjunction with the Critical Incident Response Team and K9 unit. A quantity of cocaine and marihuana were seized; as well as electronic scales, a firearm, and $6,000 in Canadian currency.
As a result, a 54 year old woman was charged with Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Possession of marihuana, and firearms related offences. She was released with conditions and a future court date. A 47 year old man was also charged with 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance (cocaine and marihuana), and released with conditions and a future court date.
Bail Violations
In the evening of January 30, 2015, a Chatham-Kent Police Officer observed a male known to him in the area of Dufferin Ave, Wallaceburg. It was learned that he was arrested the previous month, and currently on conditions to be in his residence absolutely, except for medical emergency.
The 18 year old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance, and later released with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police investigated 9 Motor Vehicle Collisions in the past 24 hours. Despite weather conditions, you are ultimately responsible for the care and control of your motor vehicle, and will be charged accordingly. Remember to slow down and brake early.
