Daily News Release – Saturday, January 10, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 97 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested and no one was held for Bail.

Serious Motor Vehicle Collision in Dover Township – Update CK15000728

Just before 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle head on collision on Bearline Road. Three people were transported via ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. One person was air lifted from the scene to a London Hospital for medical attention.

The three people transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance were treated for minor injuries and released. The person airlifted to London Hospital remains in London Hospital in stable condition. The estimated damage is approximately $40,000.00. The collision remains under investigation.

Head on Collision CK15000725

At approximately 8:26 a.m. yesterday morning the Chatham-Kent Police Service investigated a head on collision on Queens Line near Tilbury. The cause of the collision is attributed to an icy roadway. CK Fire and EMS also attended, both drivers transported to Chatham-Kent HealthAlliance (Chatham) with minor injuries. Damage is estimated at approximately $25,000.00

The Chatham-Kent Police investigated 15 motor vehicle collisions in the past 24 hours. The weather was the common factor in these mishaps; please remember to add a few minutes to your daily routine to account for the slower dive time.

Is Your Vehicle Ready for Winter Driving?

As we experience winter weather, get your vehicle ready with a maintenance check-up. Don’t wait to have your battery, belts, hoses, radiator, oil, lights, brakes, tires, exhaust system, heater/defroster, wipers and ignition system checked.

Make sure your vehicle is mechanically ready for the rigours of winter. Keep your fuel tank sufficiently full – at least half a tank is recommended.

Make sure you have sufficient windshield washer fluid in the reservoir that is rated a minimum of -40’C temperature range. Keep an extra jug in the vehicle.
