The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 82 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK15013326
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance in Chatham.
On May 9, 2015 around 10:30 p.m. the man and his girlfriend began arguing. The man spit in the woman’s face a couple times as he left the residence.
Yesterday, the woman contacted police to report the incident. Officers located the man in Chatham.
The 43-year-old Leamington man has been charged with two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15013305
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On May 8, 2015 a warrant was issued for the man as he failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.
Yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol located the man in the area of Adelaide Street and Colborne Street in Chatham.
Devon Orton, 23 years, of Taylor Avenue in Chatham was taken into custody and released pending a future court date of May 15, 2015.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15013360
Just before 7:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Northwood Line.
The driver lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000. A 17-year-old Chatham youth was charged with careless driving.
Traffic Enforcement
Yesterday afternoon, members of the Community Patrol Branch conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road and in the Blenheim area. A total of 29 motorists were stopped and charged with various offences. Eleven of those motorists were charged with exceeding the speed limit by over 30km/h.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds drivers that speed is almost always a significant factor in collisions. Please reduce your speed and make road safety a priority when you drive.
Break and Enter in Blenheim CK15013357
The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break and enter in Blenheim.
Sometime yesterday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Catherine Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole jewelry and cash, valued at approximately $2000.
