The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 54 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Two Youths Charged with Theft CK15002266

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested two male youths in connection with two separate theft investigations.

Yesterday morning, a Raleigh Township man contacted police to report that sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) stole various items from his unlocked truck. A second Raleigh Township man reported that his blue 2003 Polaris 4-wheeler had been stolen.

Through investigation, police identified the youths responsible. The 17-year-old Merlin youths were arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5000 each. Both were released with conditions pending a future court date.

Man Charged with Uttering Threats CK15002289 / CK15001682

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

On January 18, 2015, the man threatened a male youth via Facebook. On January 19, 2015, in response to the threat, the youth brought a knife to school for protection. As previously reported, the 17-year-old John McGregor Secondary School youth was arrested and charged. Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man on Lacroix Street near Park Avenue West in Chatham. The 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15002309

Last night around 9:20 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Base Line just outside of Wallaceburg.

A 39-year-old Wallaceburg woman was travelling southbound on Bluewater Line when she entered a curve in the roadway that turns into Base Line. The woman lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and struck a row of hedges.

The woman left the scene of the collision and was located a short distance away at a residence.

The woman was charged with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
