The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 100 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Five people were arrested.

Man Charged with Drug Possession CK15012129

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions and drug possession.

In March 2015, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to possess or consume any unlawful drugs or substances.

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man walking on Raleigh Street and learned that he was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for two counts of breach of probation. The man was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest was found to be in possession of marihuana, methamphetamine and assorted prescription medications for which he did not have a prescription.

The 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and two counts of drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Theft CK15012150

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a shoplifting complaint in Chatham.

Around 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, the woman entered Walmart and concealed a fragrance bottle in her purse. She exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at $35.00.

Amanda Glover, 49 years, of Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date of May 28, 2015.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15012154

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Victoria Avenue near Grand Avenue in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000. A 25-year-old Chatham woman was charged with careless driving.

MS Walk

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be participating in the MS Walk on Sunday, May 3, 2015.

Please join us in the fight to end MS at John McGregor Secondary School, 300 Cecile Avenue in Chatham for a 2km or 5km walk/run. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Opening Ceremonies will commence at 9:30 a.m. with the walk/run immediately following. Outreach for Hunger

For the 6th year, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be participating in a food drive to support the Outreach for Hunger food bank on Wellington Street East in Chatham. This food bank benefits many throughout Chatham-Kent who struggle daily with their family food needs. We are seeking your assistance and hoping you can help us.

Members of the public are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to any CKPS Service Centre across the Municipality during the month of May.
