The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 117 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eleven people were arrested.
Police Execute Drug Warrant CK15002673
Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section and Critical Incident Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Park Street in Chatham
Eight people were located in the residence and all were arrested. Officers seized methamphetamine, cocaine and hydromorphone with a total street value of approximately $1000. Canadian currency, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia were also seized.
A 26-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of drug possession for the purposes of trafficking and one count of drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. A 42-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of drug possession and one count of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A 48-year-old woman, 45-year-old man, 24-year-old woman, 28-year-old man, 26-year-old man, 22-year-old man, all from Chatham, were charged with two counts of drug possession. All were released with conditions pending a future court date of February 19, 2015.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15002676
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter last night in Chatham.
Around 6:00 p.m. the man entered a home on Gray Street through an unlocked window. When confronted in the kitchen by the homeowner’s babysitter, the man fled on foot. Through investigation, officers identified the man. Shortly after 10:00 p.m. officers located the man on Princess Street and he was taken into custody.
The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK15002702
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a family dispute in Chatham.
At 10:30 p.m. last night, officers responded to a residence on Queen Street regarding a disturbance. At this time, a woman reported that a family member had stolen money from her residence. When she confronted him, the man assaulted her while holding a knife. The man fled the residence prior to police arrival.
Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody. The 20-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5000, assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Mischief in Chatham CK15002610
Sometime late January 28, 2015 or early January 29, 2015, unknown suspect(s) spray painted graffiti on businesses throughout the downtown area of Chatham. Eight businesses sustained damage. It is believed that the costs to repair the damage will be in excess of $5000.
