Man and Woman both Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15001983

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man and woman following a disturbance yesterday afternoon in Chatham.

Around 12:30 p.m. the couple began arguing as the man was using the woman’s phone and when she asked for it back, he refused to return it. This lead to a physical altercation as the woman slapped the man in the face.

Both were taken into custody. Through investigation, the woman disclosed a previous incident of domestic violence.

The 26-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault. She was released with conditions pending a future court date.

The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft under $5000, assault and uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15002019

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions.

In December 2014, the man was released from custody with several conditions. Three of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a particular address in Pembroke, remain in Renfrew Country and not to associate or communicate with a specific Wallaceburg woman.

Yesterday, police received information that the man was associating with the woman at a residence on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. Officers located the woman and later found the man hiding in a kitchen cupboard.

The 22-year-old Pembroke man has been charged with three counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Mischief to Vehicles in Chatham CK15001897

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s assistance in regards to four mischief complaints received earlier this week in Chatham.

Sometime on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 between midnight and 5:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) damaged the following vehicles:

– two vehicles in the same driveway on Lark Street – one was spray painted while the other had an unknown substance placed in the gas tank

– a vehicle parked on Semenyn Avenue was spray painted

– a vehicle parked on Discovery Court was spray painted

– a vehicle parked on Mary Street was spray painted

Through investigation, police believe the incidents may be related as the words written on the vehicles were similar in nature.
