The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 70 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Three people were arrested.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK15011399
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving following a collision last night in Chatham.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision. The man was driving his truck eastbound on Park Avenue East just west of Eastlawn Drive when he lost control. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a culvert and came to rest in the ditch. The man attempted to walk away from the scene however he was located a short distance away.
Through investigation, the officer believed the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
Taylor Whiteye, 32 years, of Sandys Street in Chatham was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 8, 2015.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15011387
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On March 4, 2015 around 9:10 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling eastbound on McNaughton Avenue with no headlights or tail lights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Stewart Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.
Scott List, 44 years, of Baldoon Road in Chatham was charged with driving while under suspension and driving without proper headlights.
On April 22, 2015 he failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Last night, he turned himself in to police headquarters. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 13, 2015.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK15011346
Around 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Richmond Street between West Street and Lacroix Street.
Neither driver was injured. Total damage was estimated at $2000.
A 41-year-old Essex man was charged with following too closely.
Motor Vehicle Collision in Blenheim CK15011362
Just before 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Marlborough Street near John Street West.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $5000.
A 73-year-old Merlin man was charged with failing to yield.
