The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 106 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Man Charged with Domestic Assault CK15010652

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance.

Early this morning, police responded to a residence in Chatham in regards to a physical altercation between a man and woman.

The woman attended the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was taken into custody and charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Arrested in Chatham CK15010651

Last night around 11:30 p.m. police responded to a residence on Grand Avenue in regards to an unwanted female.

The woman was asked to leave, however she did not abide by the homeowner’s request.

The 32-year-old Chatham woman was taken into custody for failing to leave when directed. She will be released pending a future court date.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15010581

Yesterday morning around 11:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a three vehicle collision on Park Avenue East near Sass Road East in Chatham.

Everyone declined medical attention at the scene. Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

An 86-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Consequences of Impaired Driving

Impaired driving means operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

It is a crime under the Criminal Code of Canada and the consequences are serious. You may:

– Lose your licence

– Have your vehicle impounded

– Need to pay an administrative monetary penalty

– Need to attend an education or treatment program

– Be fined upon conviction

– Be required to install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle

– Spend time in jail

– Have to live the rest of your life knowing you killed an innocent person

This weekend, please plan ahead should you be indulging in a few beverages. Make arrangements to stay overnight, take a cab or use a designated driver.
