On Tuesday July 26, just before 9:00 am, the Owen Sound Police Service received a 9-1- 1 call for
a collision involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist at 14 th Street East and 3 rd Avenue.
The cyclist was riding westward on 14 th Street East at the intersection of 3 rd Avenue, when the driver of a vehicle is alleged to have turned onto the avenue from the street, knocking the cyclist from their bicycle.
Police and EMS responded to the location. As a result of the impact from the vehicle, the cyclist was taken to the hospital by EMS for medical assessment and treatment.
The injuries sustained by the cyclist are not known at this time.
The driver of the vehicle has been charged with the offence of:
1) Turn not in safety, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
All users of the roadway are reminded that collisions such as this are preventable. It is your responsibility to ensure that the intersection is clear from pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.
Always obey the ‘right-of- way” before you maneuver your vehicle. It’s the law.
