Cyclist Struck By Side Mirror Of Vehicle

On October 24, 2016 at 6:51 p.m., the Guelph Police responded to a collision on Victoria Road just north of College Avenue involving a cyclist that had been struck by a vehicle. It is alleged that the 24-year-old Guelph female cyclist was northbound on Victoria when she was struck by the side mirror of an overtaking vehicle operated by a 58-year-old Guelph male. The female was transported to Guelph General Hospital for minor injuries. The driver was issued a summons for failing to leave one meter when passing a bicycle under the Highway Traffic Act.

Drivers, please remember that you are required to leave a distance of at least one-metre while passing a cyclist. A set fine of $85 was established and a set fine of $150 in community safe zones. 2 demerit points are to apply upon conviction.
