The people on the bicycle were thrown onto the pavement and sustained injuries. The occupant of the cab was uninjured however the cab sustained damage.
The male bicyclist 32-year-old Andrew Allen TAPLEY has been charged with “red light – fail to stop”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) of Ontario.
Bicycle riders need to understand that their bicycle is a vehicle under the HTA. This means that, as a bicycle rider, you have the same rights and responsibilities to obey all traffic laws as other road users.
You must stop for red lights and stop signs and comply with all other signs.
