The Owen Sound Police, Fire and Grey County EMS attended the scene of a motor vehicle versus cyclist accident in the area of 8th Street and 4th Avenue East, Owen Sound at approximately 8:35pm on Tuesday evening.
A 34yrs old male cyclist was rushed to the Grey Bruce Health Services with life threatening injuries. He was later air lifted to St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto where he remains in critical care.
Police closed off 8th Street East from 3rd Avenue to 5th Avenue for approximately 5hrs, while officers investigated the scene of the collision.
A 2008 Pontiac G6 black in colour was east bound on 8th Street East when the cyclist collided with the vehicle. The Owen Sound Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has information with regards to the accident to contact police at 519-376-1234.
Due to the notification of next of kin the name of the cyclist has not been released at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
