The Waterloo Regional Police Service has concluded an investigation into Fentanyl trafficking in Waterloo Region. Project Fit was executed by the Criminal Intelligence Branch and resulted in the arrest of three parties on August 18, 2016. Two adult males and an adult female all from Kitchener will face numerous charges of possession and trafficking in Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine and possessing proceeds of crime. Over $10 000.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized over the course of the project as well as two vehicles and approximately $1300 in cash thus far. The investigation is continuing with a further search warrant execution expected. The traffickers in this investigation were found to be selling what they said was Heroin but was actually Fentanyl. Police remind users of illicit drugs of the dangers Fentanyl poses to users especially if they are unaware what they are consuming.

On August 19th, 2016, the Waterloo Regional Police Service conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at an address in Kitchener, in relation to the prior arrest of two adult drug traffickers on August 18th, 2016. Police recovered stolen property, crystal methamphetamine and suspected Fentanyl based narcotics. Police also seized cash, ammunition and offence related property pertaining to the trafficking of illicit drugs. Pepper spray and multiple prohibited knives were also seized. Further criminal charges are pending against two adults currently in custody.
