(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been receiving reports of wild animal sightings from across the detachment area. Most wild animals are intelligent, adaptable and they prefer to avoid conflict with humans, but they’ll wander residential areas in search of food. The South Bruce OPP is offering the following tips to help critter proof” your property:
Keep pet food indoors
Use secure garbage cans and store them in an enclosed structure
Use composting bins rather than exposed piles
Pick ripe fruit from trees and collect fallen fruit from the ground
Protect vegetable gardens with fencing
Trim or clear away bushes near your home that coyotes may find cover in
Close off spaces under decks
