Criminals Take Advantage of Unlocked Homes and Vehicles

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Within the past week, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers in Mitchell have noticed an increase in thefts from homes, garages and vehicles. The common denominator in all these crimes is the fact that doors and windows had been left unlocked and easy entry could be gained.

The stolen items of choice which have been removed from the unlocked vehicles and residences is; lose change, tools, alcohol, computer games, laptop computers and other small electronic items.

The Perth County O.P.P. is urging residents to take the extra step of locking their doors and windows so they can avoid being the next victim of these opportunistic crimes. Residents are also urged to contact police immediately when suspicious persons or vehicles are observed on their streets or properties.
