(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Wednesday June 15, 2016, around 5:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a commercial property north of Main St. West near Mitchell Rd South where a theft of equipment was interrupted.
Shortly before 5:30 a.m., a worker walking on parking lot of the trucking company observed two males attempt to load a John Deere Gator onto a flatbed trailer that was hooked up to a pickup truck. The worker, knowing the owner of the pickup realized the males were in the process of committing a theft. The worker yelled at the males who ran from the scene in a northbound direction through a field.
Investigation revealed that the two male suspects likely gained access to the trucking yard by means of the same field located north of the parking lot. The pickup truck with the attached trailer that had been parked on the yard was entered by breaking one of its side windows. The pickup and trailer were subsequently driven around the yard and various truck parts as well as scrap metal was loaded onto the trailer. The John Deer Gator being loaded onto the trailer had been reported stolen from a rural property along Line 84 south west of Listowel the previous night.
Suspect descriptions:
The first male is described as 5’5” tall (165 cm), having a skinny build and a scruffy face with a beard. He is approximately 30 years of age. He wore dark clothing and blue jeans.
The second male is approximately 5’7” tall (170 cm), skinny build, bearded face, unkempt. He also appeared to be about 30 years of age and wore dark clothing and blue jeans.
The owners of the Gator, pickup truck and other items on the trailer attended the incident location and retrieved their property.
The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate this incident, and would appreciate any assistance the public could offer as to the identity of the two suspects.
