On Saturday May 16th, the Brantford Police Service joined together with other law enforcement agencies for National Enforcement Day for impaired driving. On Saturday the Traffic Unit in partnership with OPP joined together and conducted R.I.D.E check stops. In total 450 vehicles were stopped and checked for evidence of drug and alcohol impaired driving. The results were no charges and/or suspensions laid during the R.I.D.E traffic stop lanes.

Incident: On May 15, 2015 a break and enter was discovered at a home on Stanley Street. Sometime overnight on May 15, 2015 an unknown person entered a garage and stole a black 7 speed Mongoose adult racing bike.

Incident: On May 17, 2015 both the police and fire department attended a couch fire on Charlotte Street. A couch sitting on a boulevard had been fully engulfed by fire.

Incident: On May 18, 2015 at around 8:00 p.m. a man driving an E-bike on Grandview Street had lost control of his bike left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver got back on his bike continued travelling westbound and lost control again a short distance away and struck a parked vehicle. The driver fell to the ground. BPS attended and spoke with the driver who displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he provided two samples of his breath for analysis as required by law. The results were 144 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, and 156 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The accused was released from custody on a Promis to Appear in court at a future court date. The accused a 55 year old St George Street, Brantford is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80. The parked car struck was not damaged. The E-bike sustained damage to the front steering wheel and handle bars.

Incident: On May 18, 2015 a bike and child bike trailer was stolen from a front porch on Chestnut Avenue. Sometime between Sunday May 17 and Monday May 18, 2015 at around 1:20 p.m. a men’s 21 inch mountain bike blue and grey in colour, with a ‘Chariot’ child’s trailer, purple and grey in colour with two wheels was stolen.

Incident: On May 18, 2015 a vehicle was discovered entered. Sometime in the early morning hours a woman’s purse containing identification was reported stolen. A stolen credit card was used at a local convenience store shortly before 5:00 a.m. Investigation continues.
