Details: At 1:15am on March 21, 2015 a citizen reported a vehicle northbound on Market Street being driven by a possible impaired driver. Police spotted the vehicle on St Paul’s Ave and eventually stopped it on King George Rd. The 22 year male driver (from Brantford) was arrested for impaired driving and blew 1.5 x the legal limit. His vehicle was seized for 7 days and his driver’s licence suspended immediately for 90 days.
Type: Thefts and Dangerous Driving
Location: Market St S.
Details: A 21 year old Brantford male is facing numerous charges after a theft of meat from a grocery store could have turned deadly. The male was observed leaving the grocery store on March 21 around 12:40pm without paying for meat that he had stolen. An employee went out and followed the male to his vehicle. As the employee was copying down the plate number, the male reversed the vehicle pushing the employee out of the way with the vehicle. The male then pulled away quickly and in his effort to get away, struck another vehicle in the parking lot and made two more people walking through the parking to scramble as to not get hit. The vehicle and driver were soon spotted by police and stopped. Police recovered the stolen meat, and learned that the vehicle had also been stolen and the driver was under suspension to not drive. The male was charged with Theft, Possession of stolen property, assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to remain and drive while suspended. He is awaiting a bail hearing.

Details: On March 21, 2015 at 8:45pm a vehicle was observed by a citizen and reported to police that they believed the driver was impaired The vehicle was located at the Casino by police as the driver was having a difficult time backing into a parking spot. A 41 year old male from Guelph faces charges of being over the legal limit after registering 1.5x the legal limit.
Type: Break and Enter
Location: Dalhousie St.
Details: Police were called to a Dalhousie Street home that was unoccupied on March 22, 2015 at 7:20am after loud noises were heard from within the house. Upon police arrival a male was observed with an axe, smashing up the floor and walls and stealing the copper pipes for scrap metal. A 56 yr Brantford male with a lengthy criminal record has been charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter tools and breach of probation. The male was held for bail.
Type: Intoxicated male
Location: Dalhousie Street.
Details; A 41 year old Brantford male was held for bail after attending to a duplex on Dalhousie Street on March 22 at 8pm and attempted to enter the lower apartment. Once denied entry he then attended to the upper apartment and tried to enter that apartment as well. The male became loud and belligerent and began yelling at the occupants of the upper apartment to let him in, the residents, who feared for their safety, fled the apartment through a rear door. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated male who is on a court order not to drink. Prior to being taken to the station the male was also found to have drugs in his pockets as well. As a result the male is facing possession charges, breach of a court condition and intoxicated in a public place.
Type: Motor Vehicle Collision with an Impaired Driver
Location: Wellington St near Market St
Details: Around 1:30am on March 23, a single motor vehicle collision was reported to Brantford Police. As a result, a 21 year old female from Mt Pleasant was arrested for being over the legal limit after registering twice the legal limit after her vehicle hit a light standard on Wellington Street (near market Street). During a search of her car marijuana was found in the console. The female is now facing Over .08 and Possession of a Controlled Substance charges.
