Incident: On Saturday April 25, 2015 at approximately 12:40 p.m. Community Patrol Officers attended in the area of Icomm Drive regarding an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. Officers located a man who was intoxicated, agitated and causing a disturbance by yelling and swearing in the area of the parking garage. Officers arrested a 49 year old Brantford man for Cause a Disturbance and transported him to the police station and lodged in cells. The accused was eventually released from custody with a promise to appear to attend in court on a future day.

Location: Erie Avenue/Clarence Street South
Incident: On Saturday April 25, 2015 shortly after 3:00 p.m. BPS received several 9-1-1 emergency calls from concerned citizens regarding an impaired driver. Citizens advised that a Malibu was swerving all over the road, driving up on a shoulder, almost struck two pedestrians, drove up on a median, struck a traffic sign, and continued driving. Officers quickly descended into the area. While the Officers were on the way the suspect vehicle stopped in the area of Mary Street at Rawdon Street. Several citizens who observed the erratic driver attempted to block the vehicle so the driver could not drive away. BPS arrived and observed several vehicles in the center of the roadway. The Officer heard the rev of an engine and observed the Malibu being driven by the accused mount a curb, drive over a boulevard and fled the area on Rawdon Street. The vehicle had obvious damage to the front end. The Officer pursued the vehicle which sped away in a dangerous manner. The vehicle was followed to the area of Glenwood Drive where the driver pulled into a driveway and shut the vehicle off. The Officer arrested the male driver at 3:20 p.m. The accused showed signs of impairment and a breath demand was made to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused was transported to the BPS where he refused to provide two suitable samples of his breath.
The accused, Thomas C. ANNIS, 62 yr old man from Glenwood Drive, Brantford is charged with;
Impaired Driving
Failure to Provide a Breath Sample
Flight from Police Officer
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident
The accused was eventually released on a Promise to Appear with an Undertaking for a future court date
A mandatory 90 day driving suspension was issued and the vehicle driven was impounded for a mandatory 7 days.
Type: UPDATE – Break and Enter (residential)
Date: April 23, 2015
Location: Chestnut Avenue
Incident: Sometime overnight on April 22, 2015 a home on Chestnut Avenue was entered while the occupants slept. It is believed that a door was left unlocked and the suspect(s) entered the home. An IPad, laptop, and wallet were amongst the items reported stolen.
Investigation revealed that on April 23, 2015 at around 3:20 a.m. a debit card which had been stolen from the homeowner’s wallet was used at a convenience store in Brantford. Detectives from the BPS Street Crimes Unit attended the convenience store where the card was used in a fraudulent manner and obtained video surveillance of the crime. On April 25, 2015 Detectives located the stolen laptop identified by serial numbers obtained by the homeowners at a local pawnbroker business. Detectives identified a 21 year old Brantford man as the accused. The accused after producing identification had sold the laptop at the pawnbrokers and was also identified by detectives as using the debit card at the convenience store shortly after the overnight break and enter.
On April 26, 2015 at approximately 1:25 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were searching for the accused near his home address on Drummond Street. Officers observed the accused walking down the street from his home. Officers arrested the man for numerous offences in relation to the Break and Enter, Fraud and Stolen Property. As a result of this investigation three other co-accused were arrested in the area.
Investigation continued where a search warrant was obtained regarding the accused residence. On April 26, 2015 shortly after 1:30 p.m. a search warrant was executed on Drummond Street. Several items stolen from the break and enter on chestnut Avenue including a wallet and electronics were recovered inside the accused residence. The following persons have been arrested regarding this investigation;
Accused #1) LEE, Corey, Joseph, 21 yrs of age of Drummond St, Brantford is charged with;
* Breach of Probation Order X2
* Possession of Stolen Goods under $5000
* Fraud under $5,000.00
Accused #2) BENSON, Scott, Alexander, 22 yrs of age of Drummond St, Brantford is charged with;
* Fail to Comply with Recognizance
* Possession of Stolen Goods under $5,000.00
Accused #3) EVANOFF, Carol-Lynne, Annette, 19 yrs of age of Drummond Street, Brantford is charged with;
* Possession of Stolen Goods under $5,000.00
Accused #4) WILLARD, Michael, Benjamin, Charles, 22 yrs of Drummond Street, Brantford is charged with;
* Possession of Stolen Goods under $5,000.00

Incident: On April 26, 2015 shortly before 8:00 p.m. a customer shopping at a grocery store on St Paul Avenue had her turquoise ladies wallet stolen from a grocery cart. Video surveillance is being reviewed.
