Incident: On April 17, 2015 at around 9:30 p.m. a man telephoned the BPS to report being the victim of an assault. The man reports that he rents a room at a home on Simpson Street. The victim advised that on today’s date at around 9:15 p.m. he became involved in a verbal argument which ensued to a physical confrontation with his landlord, who also resides at the residence. The victim reports that the accused was wrestling with him on the floor; he was struck in the hand with a barbell and was chocked. The victim reports that the accused then stopped the assault and began speaking to a third person in the home. It is reported that the accused lifted up his shirt and exposed a brown wooden handled firearm(revolver type) which was sitting in his waistband to the third party. The accused left the residence in a vehicle and the BPS were contacted. The BPS began a search for the accused and at approximately 3:30 a.m. on April 18, 2015 Officers observed the accused return to the residence in the vehicle. BPS conducted a high-risk take down with the accused and ordered him to exit the vehicle slowly and with his hands open and in plain view. The accused was arrested without incident and when Officers handcuffed the accused they observed a large amount of blood pooling beside his foot and more blood oozing from his shoe. An ambulance was requested and attended their location. The accused foot had been injured as a result of a gunshot wound. The accused was transported to the hospital and his injury treated.
BPS seized a loaded .38 caliber revolver which had a two inch barrel length under the driver’s side seat of the vehicle. The accused was currently bound by four separate weapon prohibitions, prohibiting him from owning or possessing any firearm. In addition the accused was on probation. The accused is also charged with discharging the firearm. Investigation revealed that prior to the accused returning to his residence he discharged the firearm which resulted in the gunshot wound to his foot.
The accused, a 47 year old Brantford man is charged with the following offences;
Assault
Assault with a Weapon
Choking
Possession of Weapons Dangerous
Carry a Concealed Weapon
Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Knowledge of Firearm Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
Possession of Prohibited firearm with Ammunition
Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
Discharging Firearm – Recklessness
Possession Firearm or Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order X4
*Breach of Probation
Type: Break and Enter (Commercial)
Date: April 18, 2015
Location: Lynden Road – LCBO
Incident: On April 18, 2015 shortly after 1:00 a.m. a break in occurred at the LCBO on Lynden Road. Both entry doors had been smashed with rocks and two unknown males stole several carry out baskets of assorted liquor. A dark coloured vehicle was observed in the area. Surveillance video which captured the crime is being reviewed.

Location: Henry Street – (200 block)
Incident: On April 18, 2015 shortly before 12:30 a.m. a nail salon located at the corner of Henry Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway was broken into. The front glass doors had been smashed by an unknown man with a rock. Surveillance video captured the crime which showed a male entering the business wearing a headband which covered his face. The counter area was rummaged through. No items were reported stolen at the time of the report. A dark coloured vehicle was observed in the area.

Location: St Paul Avenue – (300 block)
Incident: On April 18, 2015 shortly before 2:00 a.m. a gas station located on St Paul Avenue was broken into. The front glass door had been smashed out using a concrete block. Two unknown males entered the business and stole a cash register drawer and cigarettes. An alert citizen who happened to be driving by at the time of the break and enter observed a suspicious dark coloured vehicle out front of the gas bar. The citizen observed two males carrying items out of the gas bar and fleeing the area. The citizen travelled in the same direction as the suspects and observed that the vehicle travelled northbound on St Paul Avenue to the King George Road 403 exit ramp. The suspect was last observed travelling east bound on the 403. Surveillance video from all three Break and Enters are being reviewed Investigators believe that the Lynden Road and Henry Street Break and Enters were committed by the same parties, investigation continues.

Location: Chatham Street at George Street
Incident: On April 18, 2015 at around 5:30 p.m. a concerned citizen telephoned the BPS to report a missing stop sign. An Officer attended and contacted City Yards to attend and replace the missing street sign. Both the pole and stop sign had been removed. This intersection has stop signs erected for vehicles travelling east and west bound on Chatham Street. The east bound direction stop sign on Chatham Street was the sign removed.
The BPS is seeking anyone with information regarding this theft to come forward or call crime stoppers. The theft or vandalism of a stop sign is a dangerous act. The stop signs are in place to notify drivers to stop before proceeding. This could have resulted in the death or serious injury to a pedestrian or occupant in a motor vehicle.

Location: Stanley Street (100 block)
Incident: Sometime between April 18th and April 19, 2015 unknown persons had sprayed black paint on a business sign located on a boulevard on Stanley Street.

Date: April 19, 2015
Location: Dundas Street
Incident: On April 19, 2015 a resident from Dundas Street dialed 9-1-1 to report someone had just damaged her vehicle. The victim advised that an unknown youth had smashed the windshield of her vehicle and another person in her residence had chased after the youth. The youth was last seen travelling westbound on Dundas Street towards Sydenham Street. The youth was observed wearing all black and riding a BMX stunt type bike.
