Incident #: 15-9396

Date: March 31, 2015

Location: Darling Street – Bus Terminal

Incident: On March 31, 2015 shortly before 11:00 a.m. an emergency 9-1-1 call was received from the bus terminal on Darling Street. An Officer in the area was also flagged down by concerned bystanders who had witnessed a man inside the bus terminal throw a hot beverage at a female employee at the coffee shop located inside. Officers obtained witness statements and video surveillance which captured the assault. Investigation revealed that the accused placed an order for a hot beverage at the counter. The accused received a doubled cup of hot beverage and started walking towards the exit doors onto Darling Street. The accused stopped and immediately returned to the side counter at the coffee shop and without hesitation and with an overhand action threw the double cupped hot beverage at a female employees face. The accused then fled the area on foot.

Officers were able to identify the accused. At approximately 12:46 p.m. an Officer observed the accused walking on Colborne Street near the Mohawk Plaza. The accused was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing. The accused, a 26 year old Brantford man is charged with Assault with a Weapon. Further the accused was also bound by three separate probation orders for previous convictions of Utter Threats, Fail to Comply and Assault. The accused was also charged with Breach of Probation X3.

The victim received minor injuries and was attended to by EMS at the scene.

Type: Recovered Vehicle – Arrest

Date: March 31, 2015

Location: Tollgate Road (100 block)

Incident: On March 31, 2015 an alert citizen observed a suspicious male and vehicle drive into a parking lot on Tollgate Road. A citizen also observed the suspicious male ‘checking’ out other vehicles in the parking lot and then return to the vehicle. BPS was alerted and Officers attended the parking lot and discovered the vehicle, a white Escalade SUV with the ignition running and the suspicious man sleeping behind the wheel. Investigation revealed that the Escalade had been reported stolen to the London Police Service on March 31, 2015 at around 9:30 a.m. Further investigation revealed that the stolen Escalade had been involved in a drive off gas theft at a King George Road gas station around 8:00 p.m. on March 31, 2015.

The accused is suspended for life to drive in Canada under five separate driving prohibitions, stemming from convictions of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight while Pursued by Police.

Located in the stolen vehicle was a stolen licence plate which had been taken from a vehicle which had been parked on Lynwood Drive in Brantford.

The accused a 25 year old Ohsweken man was arrested without incident and charged with the following offences;

* Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.00 (Escalade)

* Drive Disqualified X 5

* Possession of Break in Tools

* Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000.00(licence plates)
