(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday July 05, 2013, at 1:10 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Line 89 north of Gowanstown.
Investigation revealed that a Dodge Durango SUV travelled west bound on Line 89 when it crossed directly in front of a south bound Lincoln sedan. The Lincoln T- boned the Durango and both vehicles ended up in the south west ditch area of the intersection. This intersection is controlled by two stop signs that are situated along Line 89.
The Minto Fire Department was dispatched to the scene as well as Perth County Ambulance personnel. The lone female occupant of the Lincoln, a 62 year old female from Minto Township was transported to Palmerston Hospital with minor injuries. The 31 year old male driver of the Durango, a Howick Township resident, and the 25 year old male passenger, a Palmerston resident, were treated at the scene.
The driver of the Durango has been charged with careless driving”.
This collision had the potential of being tragic in nature and is an example of a motorist failing to “stop and lookâ€Â. “
