Crash Sends Driver To Hospital

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) At approximately 8:15 a.m. on Thursday April 07, 2011, Perth County OPP officers were called to a single motor vehicle rollover on Hwy. 23 at Line 81 south of Listowel. The 18 year old female driver from the Municipality of North Perth was trapped inside the rolled car and required the services of the Atwood Fire Dept. to extricate her. She was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Listowel Memorial Hospital for treatment for her minor injuries. Highway 23 was closed for approximately one hour to allow for cleanup of the debris and safe removal of the vehicle.

Investigation into the crash determined that the rolled car had been southbound on Hwy. 23. It approached the intersection of Line 81 where an eastbound blue four door automobile was stopped at the stop sign controlled intersection on Line 81. As the southbound car approached, the blue car proceeded to cross Hwy. 23. The driver of the south bound car had to swerve around the blue car in an attempt to avoid a T bone collision. As the south bound car swerved onto the northbound lane of Hwy. 23 the driver lost control and entered the West ditch of Hwy. 23 where it flipped onto its side and came to rest.
