(Howick, ON) On August 9, 2009 at approximately 3:00 am Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision in Howick Township. Information received was that a vehicle had struck another from behind and the suspected impaired driver then walked away from the scene. The witnesses in the involved vehicle confirmed the identity of the driver. Shortly afterwards, the driver was located walking towards his residence.
The officer confirmed that the driver was impaired by alcohol and the driver was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Exeter Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The results confirmed that the driver had more than two times over the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
As a result, Brendan Crapper (23) of Howick was charged with one count of Impaired Driving and one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He will return to Goderich Court on October 15, 2009 to answer to his charges.
