(PERTH COUNTY, ON) -Stunt driving will result in the immediate suspension of a driver’s licence and a vehicle impoundment.
A driver travelling through the Township of Perth South discovered this on February 26, 2018 when a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located it travelling more than 50 kilometres over the posted speed limit.
Thirty-one-year old Craig SOMERVILLE of the City of Stratford was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle-Excessive Speed. This resulted in a driver’s licence suspension for seven days. The motor vehicle was towed and will also be impounded for seven days.
Drivers should be well aware of the dangers posed by excessive speed. Posted speed limits are in place for public safety and have been technically and scientifically calculated. Exceeding these limits increases the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a collision.
Every occupant of a motor vehicle that is not restrained by a seat belt is travelling at the same speed as the vehicle they are seated within. If the vehicle were to become involved in a collision
