COYOTE SIGHTING

(HURON TWP, ON) – On February 11th, 2012 at 9:06 am, the South Bruce OPP was notified of a Coyote sighting along Boiler Beach Road in Huron Township. Coyotes are intelligent, adaptable and curious creatures, but they are also shy, cautious and non-confrontational. To help keep coyotes away from your property, the South Bruce OPP is offering the following tips:

Dispose of garbage in secure containers that can’t be opened by wildlife
Don’t leave garbage or food waste outside and accessible
Use a secure, enclosed compost bin. Don’t put meat, dairy or eggs in compost
If you have fruit trees, pick the ripe fruit immediately and clear fallen fruit from the ground
Consider installing outdoor lighting that is motion activated
Trim or clear away bushes near your home that an animal may seek cover in
