(NORTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) -Members of the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a cow and a motor vehicle on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 just after 5:00 a.m.
Investigation revealed that a 2007 GMC Acadia motor vehicle was traveling westbound on Spry Road when the driver struck a cow on the roadway. The collision caused both airbags to deploy. Two occupants in the vehicle were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel however neither was taken to hospital for their injuries. The cow involved in the collision was uninjured and was released to the farmer.
The OPP Community Services Unit is reminding area farmers to ensure their livestock are securely corralled at all times and not allowed to venture onto roadways. The OPP is also reminding area motorists that with the fall harvest well underway, the incidents of animals venturing onto roadways will increase. Motorists are well advised to look far ahead when driving, slow down, and anticipate animal activity on roadways during early morning and evening hours.
