Court Removes David Riach From Council

An Ontario Superior Court ruling has reduced the size of Huron County council from 20 members to 16 members .

South Huron’s David Frayne, North Huron’s David Riach, Central Huron’s Brian Barnim and Huron East’s Bill Siemon have lost their county-level seats after Justice K.A. Gorman upheld a 1999 bylaw that governs the size of council.

Under the bylaw, the head of each lower tier municipal council has one seat on county council, and once the lower-tier council achieves 4,001 electors it gains another seat on county council.
