While half of Council agrees they have no authority over the
proposed nuclear waste depository, the other half insists that
Council’s time should be spent discussing it and sending off a
letter that will be ignored. Nothing NH Council can say or do
will impact the proposed waste depository, and they know it.
Some councillors seem to enjoy summoning people for their own
amusement. Just like their inaugural meeting when they
summoned leaders from the local Amish and Mennonite community to
come out in a snow storm, sit for an hour, only to have council ask
them if they could pickup their horse’s excrement. A letter
would have sufficed, but they wouldn’t have been able to
inconvenience people for their own amusement or ego gratification.
