(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Twenty Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Huron County Detachment are proudly sporting glistening fresh haircuts following a tremendously successful Cops for Cancer fundraiser.
On September 16, 2013 officers lined up outside the Huron County Courthouse to have their heads shaved in an effort to raise awareness and funds for valuable research, information and support services at the Canadian Cancer Society. In total, the officers raised a staggering $8400 for this great cause.
“I am thrilled with the number of local officers that participated in this year’s head shave. Most of us have been personally affected by cancer at some point in our lives and this is one small thing we could do to support and honour those that have battled and are currently battling various forms of cancer. The support from all of those that made a donation is overwhelming. And lastly, I would also like to thank our hair stylists that volunteered their time and talent. Event organizer – Huron OPP Provincial Constable Craig Soldan.
