Construction Worker Steps In Traffic – Throws Spray Can When Driver Swerves To Avoid Him

Occurrence Type: Tempers Flare and Mischief Charges Laid

Occurrence #: BA16020613

Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2016 – 11:45am

Police responded to the area of Hwy 90 south of Miller Drive in the City of Barrie Wednesday afternoon upon receiving reports of an altercation between a motorist and a construction worker.

A construction worker was nearly hit by a vehicle when he stepped too far into oncoming traffic. The driver of the vehicle quickly swerved to avoid hitting him, and when doing so the worker threw a spray can at his vehicle. As a result an argument ensued between the two men which led to the worker further damaging the vehicle as a result of punching it.

Neither party sustained any injuries, although the 47-year-old male worker was charged with mischief and will appear in a Barrie court in May.
