(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On September 16th, 2011 at 5:50 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of a fraud from a resident of the Municipality of Kincardine. The suspect called to advise the computer had a virus and he wanted to clean it. Unfortunately, the scammer was allowed access to the computer. The South Bruce OPP is sending another reminder about scams. Technology allows a con artist to become more creative and even learn personal information about a potential victim before they make contact. You don’t have to be Tech savvy to avoid a scam, just rely on your instincts. If you think that you have a computer problem, talk to someone that you trust. Don’t be swindled out of your hard earned money. Remember, if you didn’t make the phone call, how do you know the person on the other end is who they say they are?
