Computer Scam Alert

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding residents of the computer repair scam following a July 18, 2012 report that the scam had been tried in Walkerton. There are different company names given such as E-Solutions or Microsoft, but the scam always involves a phone call to tell you that there’s something wrong with your computer that can be fixed remotely after you provide a credit card number to pay the “small fee”. If you feel that something is wrong with your computer, consult a reputable computer repair service; don’t take the word of the con artist on the telephone. Fraud is a multi billion dollar enterprise that will only stop when the scammers stop getting money, banking information or personal information.
