Computer Repair Scam Going Viral

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP has received 3 complaints about a computer repair scam in the past 3 days. 2 residents from the Municipality of Kincardine each lost more than $200, while a resident from the Municipality of South Bruce recognized the scam. The South Bruce OPP is sending a warning about callers that want to fix your computer. The scammers identify themselves as employees of “Microsoft” or “Online PC Care” and tell you they can fix a problem with your computer. If you didn’t make the phone call – how do you know who is on the other end? When you want your computer serviced, consult a legitimate, reputable computer repair technician. Don’t hand over your hard earned money to some smooth talking con artist on the other end of a phone line.
