On July 7, 2014 at 12:39pm Police received a report of an unattended canoe filled with water along the Grand River. Police with the assistance of Kitchener Fire Department were able to locate the canoes,west of the Highway 8 Bridge. Kitchener Fire Department utilized a boat to check the immediate area and bring the canoes to shore. The canoes were fastened together similar to a catamaran style boat. There were no indicators or concerns that the Canoes were being used.It is believed the vessels were not secured properly and travelled down river as a result.
