Company And Driver Charged After Lathe Falls Onto Sidewalk

On November 27, 2017, at 1:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a collision on Franklin Boulevard in Cambridge. A tractor trailer was transporting a large industrial lathe through the roundabout at Clyde Road when it tipped onto the right side of the truck and trailer, causing it to dislodge and fall on the sidewalk. The roundabout at Franklin Boulevard and Clyde Road was closed for about seven hours to southbound traffic in order to investigate the incident and remove the truck, trailer and cargo. The 50-year-old truck driver, from the Welland area, has been charged with two offences under the Highway Traffic Act. The company he is employed by has also been charged two offences under the Highway Traffic Act. No one was injured in this incident.
