COMMUNITY MOVES FORWARD WITH LAUNCH OF HURON FOOD ACTION NETWORK
Clinton, ON – The newly formed Huron Food Action Network is holding its first Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, December 10 at the Central Huron Community Complex, My United Hall (239 Bill Fleming Drive, Clinton) from 6 to 9 p.m.
After several months of community consultation and discussion, the Huron Food Action Network, a group of local food enthusiasts including farmers, consumers, municipal and health representatives, have come together to create a committee to focus on a variety of food-related projects in Huron County.
Huron County Health Unit Community Developer, Janice Dunbar, says “Some projects are already underway as a result of the planning meetings and those include plans for improving consumer food literacy and participation in discussions about regional food hubs.†Dunbar adds that the Huron Food Action Network hopes that other projects will emerge as the Network expands and grows.
All are welcome at the meeting. There will be a chance to learn more about the Network and its working groups as well as to bring new ideas and join in the celebration of emerging food projects from around Huron County. In addition, there will be an election for positions on the coordinating committee (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer).
Anyone who is interested in standing for one of these positions can be nominated prior to the meeting or from the floor. The evening will begin with light local refreshment and a meet and greet.
