(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On March 17, 2016, at approximately 6:20 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Elginfield Road, at Denfield Road.
A grey Dodge van was travelling north bound on Denfield Road. It collided with a green Mack transport tractor trailer travelling westbound on Elginfield Road. The transport truck entered the ditch. Denfield Road is governed by stop signs.
The driver (and lone occupant) of the transport truck is a 39-year-old male from South Huron, Ontario. He was transported by ambulance with possible life threatening injuries to hospital, where he remains, currently listed in critical condition.
The driver (and lone occupant) of the van, a 34-year-old female from Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was treated and released on March 17, 2016.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result, Elginfield Road was closed between Vanneck Road, and Coursey Line; Denfield Road was closed between 16 Mile Road and Airport Road. Motorists had to find alternative routes.
The roadways were both re-opened just before 5:30 p.m. on March 17, 2016.
This incident is still under investigation.
