Collision Results In Two Drivers Being Charged – No Licence, No Insurance Card, Careless Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday November 30, 2011 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Perth County OPP officers in Listowel were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Main St. East just east of Wallace Ave. North in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that a west bound Honda CRV on Main St East slowed down and stopped behind traffic at the Wallace Ave. North, stoplight-controlled intersection. The driver of a west bound Chevy Optra that had been following the Honda was unable to stop in time and caused a collision. The impact did not result in injuries, and damage was minimal however charges were laid on the 21 year old female driver from Huron East. She was charged with “careless driving” and “drive motor vehicle – no licence”, she will have to appear in Stratford Court on January 17, 2012 to answer to these charges. The driver of the Honda a 47 year old female from Kincardine was charged with “fail to have insurance card”.

The motoring public is reminded to ensure that all required documentation for the driver and vehicle being operated can be produced when stopped by police. A valid driver’s licence, validated permit (ownership) and proof of valid insurance are required.
