(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Wednesday August 10, 2016 shortly before 9 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, and Perth County EMS were dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Perth Line 26 and Hwy 7.
Investigation indicated that an eastbound Chrysler minivan was stopped at the stop sign on Line 26 east of the intersection. The minivan driver then proceeded eastbound through the intersection in the path of a southbound railway maintenance truck. The truck driver veered towards the northbound lane in attempt to avoid impacting with the minivan. The minivan struck the passenger side of the southbound truck.
The 41-year-old male driver of the truck, a resident of London, did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash. The 72-year-old female driver of the minivan, a St.Marys resident, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. She has been charged with “fail to yield to traffic on through highway”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
