Collision Involving Cyclist

On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at approximately 5:00 p.m., emergency responders were called to the intersection of Adare Crescent and Commissioners Road East where there was a collision involving a cyclist and a minivan.

It was learned that the cyclist was travelling south from Adare Crescent and rode out onto Commissioners Road, where he came into contact with the passenger side of a Pontiac Montana.

The male driver was uninjured and the female passenger sustained minor injuries.

The 53-year-old male cyclist from London was transported to hospital. As of this morning, Wednesday, October 9, he was listed in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

Members of the Traffic Management Unit are continuing with the investigation.

The London Police Service is urging cyclists to always wear a helmet, regardless of age, while riding a bicycle.
