Collision Involving Cyclist

On Wednesday September 14th, 2016 Halton Regional Police Service responded to a personal injury collision in the parking lot of the McDonalds Restaurant, located at 1500 Upper Middle Road, in the Town of Oakville.

At approximately 6:52 pm, a cyclist was attempting to complete a purchase at the McDonalds drive-thru window when a Grey BMW lost control and pinned the cyclist up against the building.

The BMW driver, a 75 year old Oakville resident, was unharmed. The driver was initially arrested on scene but later released unconditionally.

The cyclist, a 59 year old Oakville resident, was transported to Hamilton General Hospital with life altering injuries.

Due to the nature of the collision, the Halton Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. The McDonalds parking lot area was closed for approximately 4 hours for the collision scene investigation.

Charges in the collision have yet to be laid.
