Collision Due To Passing On Snow Covered Roads

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday December 25, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a crash on Line 86 east of Listowel.

Investigation revealed that a Mazda pickup truck was the second vehicle in a line vehicles traveling eastbound on Perth Line 86. The driver of the Mazda accelerated and proceeded to pass the lead vehicle. While passing in the westbound lane on the snow covered road, the Mazda started to fishtail causing the driver to loose control of his vehicle. The truck entered the north ditch striking a wire fence and a tree. The driver did not sustain injuries but damage to the truck was extensive. The 21 year old male driver from Hamilton was charged with “careless driving”, he will be appearing in Stratford court on February 21, 2012 to answer to this charge.
