Collision Claims Life Of Two Area Residents

Members of the West Grey Police Service and Technical Traffic Investigators from O.P.P. Western Region are investigating a 2 vehicle collision that occurred around 3:30 P.M. yesterday at the intersection of Grey County Road 3 and Concession 18 of the former Normanby Township. The collision claimed the lives of 2 area residents.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a Dodge pick-up being operated by Joseph Schouten, age 22 years of Southgate was east bound on Concession 18 and collided with a Mazda travelling southbound on Grey Road 3.

The driver of the Dodge pick-up was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injures. Both occupants of the Mazda vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. They have been identified as Ruth Weiser (driver), age 52 of Mount Forest and her mother Joan Weiser (passenger) age 81 years of West Grey.

This incident is currently under investigation by the West Grey Police Service along with the Ontario Provincial Police Technical Traffic Investigators. Anyone with information are asked to call West Grey Police Service at 519-371-6911.
