Collision Between School Bus and SUV

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday January 11, 2013, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Perth County OPP officers were called to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Perth Line 72 in Newry.

Investigation determined that a school bus travelling southbound on Hwy. 23 turned left (east) onto Perth Line 72. While making its turn, the bus struck an SUV which was stopped at the stop sign in the west bound lane of Perth Line 72.

Neither the driver of the SUV, the driver of the bus, or the 34 Elma Township Public School students sustained injuries as a result of this collision. The 48 year old female bus driver, a resident of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with “turn not in safety”. The students were picked up by another bus and were safely dropped off at school. Upon the completion of the investigation, both involved vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
